'Care Data'

 

Since April 2013, under the Health & Social Care Act, the NHS is permitted now to use your

NHS Number, confidential

Gender,

Date of birth

Postcode 

together with treatment data obtained from hospitals and other health providers to

  • Improve treatment of illness
  • Assist the direction of local healthcare  
  • Allow Public Health to better manage diseases and any epidemics
  • Improve public understanding of the outcomes of health care
  • Guide national decisions about how healthcare is best delivered.

The information will only be used for research to “improve patient care and the services we provide”.

Data will be uploaded from GP Surgery systems starting in Autumn 2013.

Your Options:

1. If you are happy for your information to be shared then do nothing. (You can change your mind at a later date).

2. If you are not happy, you an opt out by completing a form available at reception - also downloadable here.
